Good Question!  Our goal is to help business owners discover some of the minefields, i.e. with employees, partners, ownership, etc.  In our 32 years as business owners, we blew up more than a few of the largest minefields ourselves.  We had great employees except for a few who caused a problem or two.  

Owners?  Partners? Employees? Customers?  We experienced new challenges every year.  Some were expected simply because we are all individuals and have our own ideas.  Others surprised us while a few made no sense to us.

Setting goals makes sense for a business owner.  Hiring the best talent and skilled employees is a good decision, too.  It's the small pieces of the puzzle, the small expenditures, often the every day decisions you make that builds profits, growth and expansion. 

However, it takes only 1 or 2 costly mistakes to get your attention.  We'll share a few big blunders that were very expensive to us.  Easy fixes we overlooked and you can easily avoid.

Your insurance coverages, liabilities, salaries, ownership, accounting and legal issues can drive you bonkers.  Simple things that get under the radar.... ONE word, a short phrase, etc. is all you need in a legal document to change your future. 

None of us like conflict.  However, TRUST and equitable sharing of the values are critical to success in every business.  Too many "good" buddies are wonderful pals until you add work and money into the equation.  An equitable solution or guideline is seldom the same for any two people in business together.

Change happens and should be expected.  Original ownership of a business is not always equitable long-term.  Nothing can replace the values of honesty and integrity within the ranks.  Your goal is to build a valuable asset with a fair equity for everyone.
